Flügger paint trays are made of eco-friendly recycled plastic
All paint trays produced at Flügger’s plastic factory in Bodafors, Sweden, are now made from 100% recycled plastic. This applies to paint trays that are sold separately, as well as paint trays sold as part of a roller set.
The UN Environment Programme estimates that eight million tonnes of plastic end up in the world’s oceans each year. This is an alarming amount. As a company, we therefore have a responsibility to become better at recycling plastic and using recycled plastic in our products. By increasing the proportion of recycled plastic in our products, we reduce our climate footprint, as almost all new plastic (virgin plastic) is produced using fossil fuels.
Greater focus on our plastic consumption
Flügger is committed to making sustainability an integral part of our business. One such initiative is to increase our focus on the use of plastic in our packaging and in our products in general. We are therefore continuously talking to our suppliers about increasing the percentage of recycled plastic in our products, and our eco-friendly recycled plastic paint trays are one example of this.
From white to grey
We have therefore changed our production of paint trays at our factory in Bodafors, Sweden. The change to recycled plastic is a natural part of the major work being done at the factory to switch to more sustainable raw materials. The transition to recycled plastic in the paint trays alone is equivalent to saving about 50 tonnes of plastic per year.
The ‘new’ trays have a slightly different appearance and are grey in colour. The paint trays are just some of the products from our Bodafors facility that are making the transition to recycled plastic. The factory is also working towards producing brush shafts using recycled plastic.
